A product name is a starting point, but a workable base-oil proposal depends on the technical target, shipment structure and destination being clear from the beginning.
Start with the technical target
Group and viscosity grade should be supported by either a target specification, a reference TDS or the key parameters that matter to the formulation. This helps distinguish commercially similar grades that may perform differently in the finished product.
Typical review points include kinematic viscosity, viscosity index, color, sulfur, flash point, pour point and—where relevant—Noack volatility.
Define the commercial structure
A complete request should align the product requirement with the shipment that will actually be purchased.
- Required grade and acceptable origin
- Volume per shipment or expected monthly program
- Flexitank, isotank, bulk, IBC or drum format
- Destination port and requested Incoterm
- Target loading or arrival window
- Documents and sample requirements
The result: a comparable offer
When these inputs are aligned, the buyer can compare proposals on the basis of product fit, landed structure and timing—not price alone. Axis uses this information to screen supply options and build a route around the actual requirement.
